Here I demonstrate Dayton audio’s exciter on different panels made from different materials. These should be listed for sale in my deGrohAudio shop on Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/shop/deGrohAudio...) and on ebay (https://www.ebay.com/usr/henrysutopia) The green xps foam I bought at Lowe’s in 4’x8’ 1” thick sheet. The acoustic ceiling tile from Home Depot; the exciter from partsexpress.com
Thanks to Tech Ingredients for the helpful videos they have posted; these where the starting points for my designs. They moved the exciter location to offset the “frequency comb” of paired panels. This can also be done by changing the panel’s size. To make a consistent comparison my first test used the same 3/5 2/5 location for the both the ceiling tile and larger XPS panel. I don’t know why the ceiling tiles performed poorly; if anyone has some advice plz share; my guess is that it is just too heavy. I hope to experiment using honeycomb cardboard next. The frequency sweep I show for "the subwoofer" includes the panels: it's the sweep for the panels and the subwoofer running at the same time.
