本曲以輕盈流暢的琴音揭開序幕，而後女聲帶出甜美的主題，柔和地唱著母親哄孩子入睡的曲調。一聲聲的「Away, away」溫柔地將孩子送入夢鄉。次段以色彩豐富的音樂描繪廣闊大地間的優美景致，間奏後速度減慢，主題再現，此處鋼琴極為精簡，營造出靜夜裡闔上雙眼、安穩入眠的氛圍。末段，飽滿多層次的和聲歌詠大自然的美景與沉靜的夜幕，音樂回歸平靜，全曲在緩慢而低沉的歌聲中悄然結束。

此曲簡單空靈，營造出自然靜謐的氛圍。歌詞除了描寫慈母於長夜中以歌聲伴子女入夢，驅趕不安、陰暗與孤獨，也具有祈願逝者安息和撫慰生者之意，盼輕柔的樂音讓逝者安詳離去。
