We’ve been replacing MacBook’s NANDs/SSD successfully since 2021, and today we want to share this knowledge to the community. Original link here:

It took us more than a year to experiment with all the T2 SSD combinations, bought all the necessary Machines for this experiment(using money from MacBook repairs) & gathered all the cluttered information as well as the relevant ones - just to create this video(and the next Part 3 video) in the most structured way possible for us all to stick with.

The one principle that’s going to work in all newer Macs – The Landing Pads Rules: the same principle applies whether you’re pulling NANDs off from donor board or using the NAND flasher. We will explain it very detail in the next video.

More info why SSD dies faster than RAM(Linus video):
   • SSDs Die, RAM Doesn't. Why?

TBW clarification:
1. At the time this video was uploaded, we are very well informed that it is possible for SSDs won’t DIE even after the TBW limit has been reached. But if you bring the worn-out SSDs to your SSD manufacturers to claim the warranty (let’s say 970 EVO), Samsung will simply reject your request because it’s beyond the TBW limit.

2. Considering that the worn-out SSDs will start to behave erratically, or sometimes funny – we’d like to call it dead. And this is why soldered SSD is a really bad idea, but maybe this is all Apple’s sneaky way to let people buy a new one.

3. The TBW value is highly dependent on the SSD’s Brand, Size, and Type of SSD(VNAND, 3DNAND, SLC, QLC, MLC etc). So, it’s not okay to generalize all SSDs are having the same TBW value. Most importantly, the type of PCIe NVMe SSDs Apple using are still unknown, maybe monolithic NVMe SSDs or something else. We will tell you when we find out more.
