KPMG’s Laszlo Peter says new secure software enables buyers to trace produce back to its origin with confidence the data is coming from the source.

The concept of paddock to plate has been well known in the farming and food production businesses but proving it has always been much more difficult.

Mr Peter's team created the KPMG Origins software that uses blockchain technology to interpret and communicate sophisticated farm data – designed to prevent meat fraud and deliver information to consumers and export partners.

“What we tried to do with Origins is to create a simple, easy-to-use infrastructure,” Mr Peter said.

“Anyone from a farm can connect to, anyone overseas or a large supermarket or an international buyer can buy Aussie-made good produce they can trust, and they can be confident the data accompanying the asset is really coming from the source and they can trace it back to the origins.”
