In this video, we delve into the highly anticipated Mission: Impossible 7, analyzing why it ultimately disappoints and stands as the weakest entry in the franchise. This installment, subtitled "Dead Reckoning Part One," fails to deliver on multiple fronts.

Firstly, one major flaw lies in its structure. Mission: Impossible 7 suffers from being the first part of a larger story, leaving viewers unsatisfied with an incomplete narrative. There are plenty of examples of effective Part 1's - Dune, Across the Spider-Verse - but those films work because while only telling part of a larger story, there is a sense of finality the the themes and character arcs that leaves audiences satisfied. That's not the case with Dead Reckoning Part 1.

Another disappointment stems from the decision to kill off Rebecca Ferguson's beloved character, Ilsa Faust. Known as one of the best characters in the franchise, her untimely and poorly handled demise lacks purpose and leaves fans questioning the reasoning behind this creative choice.

Furthermore, the handling of female characters in Mission: Impossible 7 is notably problematic. It mirrors the controversial aspects of Tom Cruise's personal relationships and his connection to Scientology. This association casts a shadow over the film, making the portrayal of women feel uncomfortable and unsettling.

Moreover, the film suffers from excessive convolution, leaving audiences perplexed and struggling to follow the intricate plot. Not much happens throughout the runtime, resulting in a slow-paced experience that fails to engage viewers as previous Mission: Impossible movies have done.

Lastly, Mission: Impossible 7 misses the mark when it comes to its central antagonist, AI. The portrayal of AI as a threat misunderstands the real-world challenges we face with artificial intelligence today. This misinterpretation further detracts from the film's credibility and fails to capture the depth and complexity of the topic.

While Mission: Impossible 7 had potential, its shortcomings in terms of storytelling, character development, and handling of relevant themes make it the weakest installment in the beloved franchise. Griffin (@griffschiller) gives you his Mission: Impossible 7 review explaining why Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 is disappointing, why Mission: Impossible 7 is overrated, why Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 is bad, and why I didn't like Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1.
