Hi guys! Today I'm going to share with you the difference between External SSD vs External HDD. I have an External SSD and External HDD. Let's start the comparison
1. Physically
-We can already see the SIZE difference of both the SSD is way smaller and thinner the HDD this is a plus for the SSD
-WEIGHT, SSD is 1/4 maybe lighter than the HDD. This gives the SSD a point for portability.
2. SPEED
-as per the advertised speed SSD has more, way more speed than the HDD
but let's give it a give a try. Here's a quick comparison I recorded earlier, the same file to both SSD and HDD. Of course, the SSD wins, SSD's are speedy
3. COST
-With all the advantages of SSD the price is too much compared to HDD. HDD is way affordable than SSD. You can get 5 times space capacity for a much lower price compared to SSD. 5 terabytes HDD space compared to 1 terabyte space for SSD
My conclusion, If you work more on transferring files like what I do, a Large number of videos, video editing, these sorts of things, definitely get an SSD it is pricey but it will be best for your case. If you just want to have extra storage just to dump or archive files and not worry much about how fast you're going to transfer files, just get an external HDD. Lastly, if budget is not a problem External SSD is the way to go.
