BlackSeaRC presents a video in which the Axial SCX24 Jeep Wrangler JLU CRC is upgraded to improve the scale realism. The SCX24 by Axial Racing is one of the most respected mini-crawlers on the market. Since its launch several years ago it has gained a reputation for being one of the best performing trucks. Aftermarket companies offer a huge range of upgrade parts for these trucks enabling users to modify almost every part of their vehicles. However, one of the biggest weaknesses of the SCX24 was the scale realism of the body.

Recently, Axial has launched a new 1:24 scale product, the SCX24 Ford Bronco featuring a hard body. This offers a new level of realism, previously unseen on the polycarbonate bodied SCX24 predecessors. If you are a particular fan of the Jeep Wrangler body or you already own a SCX24 Jeep that you have invested a lot of money in with regard to upgrades, you may wish to consider adding some accessories. BlackSeaRC has therefore selected a number of interesting parts suitable for enhancing the looks of the Jeep Wrangler.

Before fitting the accessories, BlackSeaRC unboxes the SCX24 and gives an overview of the key features of this 1:24 scale RTR (Ready-To-Run) RC crawler, for those of you unfamiliar with this product. Features included in this "hobby grade" mini-crawler include metal chassis rails, rigid axles with multi-links and coil spring suspension, a high torque motor, water resistant electronics, metal ball bearings, LED lighting, etc.

In order to improve the scale realism of the SCX24 Jeep Wrangler, I acquired the following accessories from CChand:

- Inner fenders and side under-run protection bars
- Spare wheel mounting bracket
- Roof rack, side ladder and simulated roof lights
- Side mirrors

In this video, these parts are installed and shown in close-up detail. We also look at additional parts available from CChand and identify potential alternative suppliers who offer upgrade parts for the SCX24.

A future video will show the SCX24 complete with accessories, being tested in off-road conditions.

This is the type of product that has inspired the new Traxxas TRX-4M (TRX4M). It will be interesting to see if the slightly larger 1:18 scale crawler can take the title of "best mini crawler" from the SCX24 in the future.
