A one-minute video overview about the Cyclops' visor, its powers, abilities and characteristics as depicted in the X-Men movies, and X-Men cinematic universe.

Adapting his mutant powers into a formidable weapon, Scott Summer’s visor constrains the uncontrollable and continuous flow of kinetic energy emitted from his eyes – containing them, and allowing him to see without causing any unintentional destruction.

With the use of a ruby quarts lens arrangement, Scott is capable of controlling the width, focus, and intensity of his optic blasts. Allowing him to soften the force of the beam for delicate tasks, or focusing its strength for offensive attack. For safety, there is a spring-operated closing mechanism that forces the lens to close the moment his finger disengages from the firing button.

Without the aid of the visor, the intensity of Scott’s beam would be at constant maximum output, destroying anything he gazes upon. To help mitigate this, the same ruby quarts used to contain his optic blasts can also be implemented into his casual wear as well, such as in his various arrangement of sunglasses.
