Janice Engel shares about the making of the 2019 documentary Raise Hell: The Life & Times of Molly Ivins. The film premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and screened at the 2019 SFFILM in San Francisco.

The idea for the film was born when she saw a play about Ivins in Los Angeles. Kathleen Turner essayed the role of Ivins, a nationally syndicated political columnist and author from Texas. When Egnel and her producing partner James Egan discovered there was no film made on Ivins they jumped into the project. They spent 6 years in researching and making their documentary on Ivins.

Raise Hell: The Life & Times of Molly Ivins releases in theaters in September 2019.
