These precast Walls by Superior walls foundations are not set on a concrete footer as a traditional poured foundation or a concrete block foundation or a ICF foundation would be. They are just set on a stone pad. They use a real small stone that does not pack it is self consolidating type of stone. These walls are not a new idea either they have been around our area for quite a few years and the system seems to work with just the stone under the wall and no footer. My question would be is why do these walls not need a footer but other poured walls that should be stronger need a concrete footer with rebar. What makes this pass code? Should I be able to use stone footings on other type of foundations and if not why? I have always wondered how they get away with the no footer thing. Other than that this is not a bad foundation option because it is more cost effective than other options like ICF and solid poured walls. Let me know what you guys think.
