I thought the family reveal was actually super interesting because I had forgot I had even read it in the plot wiki during my last mal vid. IMO it makes for a very interesting dynamic, since they share some similarities. I feel like Aleksander could have done more to get Mal on his side of things if he had found out earlier about their connection. And that could have been great to watch. (also in the show they say cousin, but in google it says great nephew. so meh. whatever works)

If it doesn't come through in this video, basically Mal was drawn to that orphanage because Alexander was already in that area and that is where they met, but Mal forgot about this when he grew up. And I kind of see it like Alina knew something was wrong with Aleksander and was trying to keep mal away from him when they were children. Obviously Aleksander is manipulating Mal's feelings of wanting family so badly, in order for him to be his amplifier (fyi Idk how magic works in this universe, so I just made it work for my scenario), but maybe he does care. Spoiler* he does. lol.
