The 2021 Toyota Sienna is a big departure for Toyota. Gone is the base V6 model, now all new 2021 Sienna models come as a hybrid only with AWD available on every trim. The Toyota Sienna Hybrid is based on the same platform as the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Both use a 2.5L 4-cylinder matched to the Toyota Hybrid system to produce 245hp and 263lb.-ft. of torque. The base models are equipped with FWD but all trims can add AWD, which is achieved through the addition of a separate electric motor at the back wheels. Both the Highlander Hybrid and this Sienna Hybrid can tow 3500lbs. The interior of this new 7-passenger or 8-passenger Toyota Sienna Hybrid features an SUV inspired dash with a floating centre console, called the Bridge Console. This certainly looks more SUV-like but does eliminate the ability to walk between the front seats of this new Sienna van. The lower trim models come standard with seating for 8-passengers thanks to a second row bench seat. The higher trim models come with two captains chairs in the second row. The second row seats in the new Sienna are not removable, they only slide forward to provide enough room for a 4X8 sheet of plywood. The Fuel economy is impressive, this new Toyota Sienna Hybrid is rated at a combined 6.5L/100km for FWD models and 6.7L/100km for AWD versions. That works out to 36MPG combined. Standard equipment in the all-new Sienna minivan include power dual sliding side doors, 3-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, leather wrapped and heated steering wheel, 9-inch display infotainment centre, 4.2’ Coloured Multi-information display, dual slide power doors, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 7 USB ports, blind spot monitor system with rear cross traffic alert, electric parking break with brake hold, LED headlights and LED tail & stop lights and LED fog lamps (XSE tech & above).
