The Northwestern Center for Advancing Safety of Machine Intelligence (CASMI) co-hosted a workshop on October 16-17 in Washington, D.C. entitled “Operationalizing the Measure Function of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Risk Management Framework.”

Rumman Chowdhury, Humane Intelligence founder and CEO, presented "Measuring Sociotechnical Context."

The event also included the following speakers: Cathy O’Neil, CEO of O'Neil Risk Consulting & Algorithmic Auditing (ORCAA) and author of the bestselling book "Weapons of Math Destruction;" Reva Schwartz, NIST research scientist; and Nicholas Diakopoulos, professor of communication studies in Northwestern’s School of Communication and (by courtesy) of computer science in Northwestern Engineering.
