A poignant song revived and refined by Robert Burns in 1789, My Heart’s in the Highlands is a timeless piece speaking to those who have been removed from the Scottish Highlands - those whose lives were disrupted by the Jacobite Rebellion; the crofters who were evicted during the Clearances; youngsters leaving for urban centers or the New World seeking work; and those seeking their roots visiting once, never to return.
