Grace Caldwell, a young and spirited Pennsylvania newspaper heiress, struggles to keep her passionate impulses in check as she navigates the affections of various young men. Living with her widowed mother and protective brother Brock, Grace's behavior causes increasing concern among her family as her reputation begins to tarnish. At a lavish Christmas party, Grace's life takes a turn when she meets the kind-hearted farmer, Sidney Tate. Their whirlwind romance blossoms, and Sidney proposes, unfazed by Grace's candid confession of a troubled past. Though Grace promises fidelity, her resolve is tested when Roger Bannon, a figure from her past, reappears and stirs up old emotions.
