In our three years as full time RVers I have been asked again and again why we don't use a weight distribution hitch. The simple answer is that our truck is over-rated to handle our particular travel trailer, we experience no sag at the rear of our truck, and we experience no trailer sway at highway speeds.

I've heard many RVers incorrectly state that every travel trailer towing setup requires a weight distribution hitch or sway control. I believe this is because RV dealers have been spreading misinformation regarding this topic to sell more weight distribution hitches and line their pockets.

So, to clear the air, in the video below we explain how a weight distribution hitch works, the reasons someone may need one, and why we do not use one.
