January 11th, 2023 marks a massive milestone for Bastille – It will officially be 10 years since the release of their chart topping international single “Pompeii”. Crazy to think it almost didn’t see the light of day! This episode of MTV’s “The Song That Started It All” tells you the whole story behind "Pompeii", the song that spawned a decade of global success for the band, revealed through a mix of throwback clips and present day interviews with the band’s front-man Dan Smith and keyboardist Kyle Simmons.
