Erik Magnus Lehnsherr (Magneto) crashes the UN meeting to announce the beginning of the mutant liberation. With the help of the kidnapped mutant scientists, he has built an asteroid that will serve as a sanctuary to all of the world's mutants. Any mutant is to be welcomed in this new community, and any nation that will oppose the mutant liberation will be immediately seen as Magneto's enemy. The master of magnetism praises the work of the X-Men for trying to bring about the equality of mutants and humans. It seems however that his solution of freeing the mutants, albeit under threat to UN members, is achievable faster than Professor Xavier's dream of harmonious assimilation.
