If you're 2005-2012 Ford Escape feels like it's running out of gas and the accelerator pedal doesn't respond while driving down the highway, this video is for you! Or possibly this video is for your friend who's Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute that's doing this. This is a common issue that had an extended warranty recall that's now expired. (10 years or 150k miles) Don't fear though. We'll show you what to do. This Escape... escaped diagnosis twice! The first time customer complaint was a possible transmission slip or fish bite. It only had codes for an exsisting evap problem and both O2 sensors stuck rich and lots of corrosion that was addressed as well as 4 new tires. (spendy finding) The second time, it had no check engine light or active codes for the powertrain and a bad battery that couldn't maintain a charge long enough to do a full deep scan, but had half the systems all indicating something wrong. This is usually battery related and the battery was charged, but not holding a charge and almost TEN YEARS OLD so it was also replaced. The third time it came in... nothing was in the way and it finally had confirmation of a throttle body related code of 2111 and the complaint was not slipping transmission, but the gas pedal was going completely dead. That's easy to give a confident diagnosis! It's the famous Ford throttle body issue that's been in the courts and already been identified and kicked down the road like a tin can for over a decade.
