When a defendant is facing a DUI or a drug charge, the Court will almost always order treatment. At the conclusion of such a case, the sentence will include a requirement that the defendant receive a drug and alcohol evaluation from a State certified treatment agency.

The treatment agency will evaluate a defendant based on the case at hand (the facts of the case), the defendant's case history and based on a review of their driving record. It can also be expected that a treatment agency will require you to undergo some type on initial drug test. At the first appointment it is customary to be subject to a urinalysis.

There are ways you can prepare for your drug and alcohol evaluation. Be on time. Be cooperative. Be honest. Have all the paperwork that we suggest in this video. Be respectful to the individual who does your evaluation. Understand that you will be taking a drug test and, therefore, do not use drugs or alcohol before your evaluation.
