The Wildwood Boardwalk Reconstruction project, initiated on October 9, 2023, has surpassed expectations, progressing at a rapid pace under the efficient leadership of Fred Schiavone and his team. The project, encompassing phases II, IV, and V from Oak Avenue to Spicer Avenue, has garnered anticipation of an early Spring completion.

In a recent update by the Wildwood Video Archive, the construction was observed, capturing the remarkable speed of the work. Phase III, dedicated to restoring the 2015 boardwalk segment between Oak Avenue and Schellenger Avenue, involves meticulous extraction of existing IPE decking to address wood rot in the glulam framing. This unique approach preserves the boardwalk's appearance for visitors while essential repairs occur beneath the surface.

Moving to Phase IV, the focus is on the Cedar Avenue Connector, necessitating the complete dismantling of the existing boardwalk and substructure. Innovative additions include an archway sign, railings, metal fencing, bike racks, and modern light poles to enhance the boardwalk experience.

Simultaneously, Phase V mirrors earlier phases, involving the removal and replacement of concrete tram pads, ensuring a refreshed wooden surface. Progress in Phase III is nearly complete, with only a Cedar section requiring replacement.

At the Cedar connection, construction teams are currently laying 2x6s for a level surface, followed by the placement of 2x4s, lights, railings, and bike racks. Phase V has seen the installation of primary decking, with concrete and structural work finished.
