EDIT: Since publishing this video, Mercedes-Benz's parent company Daimler has stated that the 200-mile quote given for the EQC's range in initial press materials is incorrect. It is asking journalists to use the preliminary 450-kilometer (279-mile) NEDC rating instead. A real-world EPA range will be announced later.

EDIT: We incorrectly refer to the production date of this car as being for a 2019 model year car. It's going to be launched in the second half of next year as a 2020 model year car. We apologize for getting this wrong in the video.

It's been a while coming, but earlier today Mercedes-Benz finally unveiled its first mass-produced electric SUV. Called the 2019 Mercedes-Benz EQC, this compact SUV has a claimed range of around 200 miles (321 kilometers) per charge, a total of 300 kilowatts of power available through its all-wheel drivetrain, rapid charging capabilities allowing a 10%-80% rapid charge cycle to take around 40 minutes with a compatible 110 kilowatt CCS quick charge station, and plenty of advanced driver assistance features.

It is the first of ten all-new electric models Mercedes-Benz says it will bring to market in the next three and a half years.

Which brings us to the question. Is this what the future for Mercedes-Benz looks like? And should Tesla be scared?
