The all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class is likely the most important new car Daimler AG has launched in more than 35 years here in Canada. While this nameplate has existed in Europe since the 90's, we here in North America never had the chance to experience this entry-level Mercedes-Benz until now. Our 2020 Mercedes-Benz A 220 4matic Sedan comes well equipped around $44,000.00 CAD and can get as expensive has $51,000.00 CAD.

Our full tour and comprehensive review of the V177 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is an in-depth exposé on this subcompact executive sedan, going over all the new technology found on the exterior and interior of this vehicle, along with it's 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, 7G-Tronic dual-clutch transmission, and 4matic all-wheel drive system. Exterior features include the LED headlights, emergency automatic braking, rain sensing wipers, heated windshield washer, attention assist, electronic parking brake with automatic hold, rearview camera, and an anti-theft alarm.

Our test vehicle is optioned with the $890.00 CAD cosmos black metallic paint. It also comes with the $1,500 Sports Package which adds the AMG body styling, chrome diamond block grille, 18" AMG twin-spoke wheels, sport brake system, sport front seats, sport nappa leather steering wheel, AMG floor mats, and AMG aluminium sport pedals. The $1,600 Technology Package would add the 18 LED MultiBeam LED headlight system with automatic highbeams and active distance assist. Finally our test vehicle comes with the $900 active parking assist.

Inside the 2020 Mercedes-Benz A-Class comes with a number of standard features like the Neva Grey/Black Artico seating with front heat, driver memory and power options, brushed aluminium trim, panoramic sunroof, heated power side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless start with a smartkey, the new MB User Experience infotainment system with dual 7" screens, 5 USB-C ports, cruise control, bluetooth, and HD Radio. Our test vehicle comes with the optional $250 heated steering wheel, $450 power passenger seat with memory, $1,000 navigation package, and $3,000 Premium Package which adds the dual 10.25" MBUX screens with 'Hey Mercedes' activation through natural speech, blind spot assist, Keyless-GO, foot activated trunk release, auto dimming power folding side mirrors, 64-colour ambient LED lighting with illuminated vents, wireless phone charging with NFC, and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

We go over all the interior and exterior design and features along with our opinion about them, then take the 2020 A220 4matic on a road test to talk about how it performs, handles, drives, and rides. We discuss how it might compare with something like the 2019 BMW X2 M35i we drove in terms of enthusiast-interest, along with fuel economy and performance information important to buyers in this segment.

We then wrap up our comprehensive full tour of the new A-Class with our overall impressions of this vehicle, what we liked about it, and the improvements Mercedes-Benz can make to this vehicle.
