A quick response to those who say, how come you closed the Masjids but we see grocery stores open?

These people might have missed a key principle in our religion. That is, acts of worship are founded on the principle of ease. Yes, the Principle of Ease.

You see this in countless evidence. General evidence is like "فاتقوا الله ما استطعتم" which translates "have taqwa as much as you can (or according to your ability)" Quran 64:16. And the Hadith of the Prophet AS "ما نهيتُكم عنه فاجتنبوه، وما أمرتُكم به فأتوا منه ما استطعتُم" which translates "whatever I forbid you from doing avoid it and whatever I commanded you then do as much as you can" Bukhari and Muslim.

You also see this principle tied to specific acts of worship. When it comes to prayer, the Prophet AS said, "Pray standing. But if you can't, then pray sitting. But if you can't, then pray laying down". In the passage about fasting, the verse says "Allah wants ease for you, He doesn't want hardship for you". He also made pilgrimage contingent on ability "لمن استطاع إليه سبيلا"

So I urge everyone to stop comparing between religious duties and other duties. Religious duties are based on ability. Non-religious duties are based on need (e.g. shopping for food). As to comparing to other religions or other non-religious activities (people going to clubs), then that's irrelevant. No one says that we condone such acts. We simply can't control everyone لست عليهم بمسيطر
