How to install a portable generator transfer switch. With the Generac transfer switch install instructions, you can connect to and power your house using a portable generator. I will also show you how it functions towards the end of the video. Knowing how to install a generator transfer switch to your house can seem overwhelming, but after watching this video I think it will give you the confidence and reassurance that you can do it. This particular generator transfer switch is a Generac transfer switch and can be bought at many home improvement stores and also on amazon. It is a 30 amp manual transfer switch with 8 circuits and comes with almost everything you will need. The instructions that come with these transfer switches are almost always terrible so a video like this can be very helpful. There are a few ways to power your home with a generator but this is one of the safest and best ways to do so. With this I am able to power my well, two fridges, TV's, computers, internet, lights, fans, septic, and much more.

VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: After installation and the post of this video, I had an electrician inspect the installation. The neutral wires coming out of the transfer switch into the main panel needed to be removed from the main panel bus bar and attached to each individual circuit branch. Do not fully rely on youtube videos when dealing with something as important as electricity. They are great reference points. Always consult with a licensed electrician or local code official.
