Our Tesla Model Y has been such a joy to own and besides a few areas, this car has been amazing. One of those areas is the suspension, which leads to a more harsh ride than most would expect from a car in this price range.

Having the Induction Wheels on the Tesla Model Y is not a help to the overall ride comfort as they come with a very small sidewall. The Gemini wheels do allow for a thicker tire, but they do not look great. Aftermarket options seem to be the best place to look for alternatives.

If you have a Tesla Model 3 or a Tesla Model Y, you likely have heard about Martian Wheels. Where most aftermarket wheels are flow formed, Martian Wheels are true forged wheels, which means unsurpassed weight savings and strength. This process is more expensive, which usually means a much bigger price tag. But with Martian Wheels, there is minimal overhead to keep the prices down as much as possible.

I have wanted these wheels for 2 years now and am so happy I finally have them! I opted to for the 18" wheels to maximize potential range improvements. After completing a baseline range test with the Induction wheels, I am able to compare these 18" MW03 wheels now.

I was able to achieve about 5% more efficiency with these wheels. This is a combination of weight and a narrower tire, by almost 1". With the narrower tire and lighter wheel, improvement in range was obvious, but the ride comfort by having additional side wall on the tire was substantially better than the low profile tires fitted on the induction wheels.
