25-OH Vitamin D 30-100 ng/mL---Inactive form
1, 25 OH Vitamin D (Calcitriol) pg/mL---active form

Vitamin D Council
Deficiency 0-40 ng/mL
Sufficient 40-80 ng/mL
High/normal 80-100 ng/mL

**Increased vitamin D levels reduces the risk of certain cancers
**Vitamin D deficiency--increase risk for autoimmune conditions and associated with HTN and CVD
**Contributing factors to vitamin D deficiency: Age, decreased sun exposure, intake, latitude, skin complexion, malabsorption, liver and kidney disease, gallbladder dysfunction.

Healthy person can have low 25-OH vit D and normal levels of 1, 25 OH Vit D.
Unhealthy person can have low 25-OH vit D and high levels of 1, 25 OH Vit D.
