Original aircraft, modified to use X-plane datarefs in the FDR file to make the vertical fin, engines, and horizontal stabilizer separate at specific points in time:

I edited the .OBJ file in AC3d to separate the tail/APU cone from the aircraft, then animated them so that they would fly backwards based off an unused dataref in my .FDR file. Same with the four engines, and the horizontal stabilizer. It's using the same animation system used to animate the landing gear, flaps, control surfaces, fan blades, etc.
