The Prophet, upon him be peace, said, “The fasting person has two joys: the joy at the breaking of his fast, and the joy upon meeting his Lord.” This is just one of the many subtle blessings, catalogued in Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali's work Lata‘if al-Ma’arif (The Subtleties of Knowledge) on the Islamic calendar, that the sacred month of Ramadan offers for believers.

This three-weekend series with Imam Zaid Shakir examines the poetry cited by Ibn Rajab on the chapter of Ramadan, illustrating the way Muslim scholars employed verse to embellish and enrich their religious writing.

Sessions occur on April 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, and May 1 at 6:30 PM PDT followed by a question-and-answer period for the online audience. Videos will also be available on our YouTube channel following each session.
