These parts are made of black, glass-filled nylon. Neither are IR-transmissive. So, to get the clean and precise benefits of laser plastic welding, we had to find a way to apply the laser energy, then press them together.

What you see in the video is the result.

It worked! The parts were very strong and leak-free!
