Number 3: Ariana Grande & Jennette McCurdy in Nicklodeon
In 2009, Ariana Grande and 13 co-stars Elizabeth Gillies attended a “Victorious” audition in New York for the Nickelodeon television series. Ariana Grande was chosen to play Cat Valentine in this comedy that takes place in a performing arts high school. The series started production in October 2009 and had its premiere on March 27, 2010, with 5.7 million viewers. This was the second-highest number ever for a live-action series on Nickelodeon which means, the series got a pretty good start.

This is also the part that assisted in elevating Ariana Grande to teen idol status. Then, Nickelodeon decided to produce a spin-off of iCarly and Victorious with Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande as the main lead.

On the other hand, Jennette McCurdy played Sam Puckett in the Nickelodeon television sitcom iCarly from 2007 until 2012. She was even nominated for a Young Artist Award in 2008 because of her role.

Number 2: Sam & Cat Controversy
In the Kids Choice Awards in 2014, "Sam and Cat" received a nomination for Best TV Show. Jennette McCurdy said in a tweet that she had been placed in an "uncomfortable, compromising, unfair circumstance" as the reason she couldn't go, but she omitted to elaborate.
It was later speculated that it was because of money issues.

Despite being the second main star, Jennette McCurdy allegedly skipped the awards ceremony because she was paid less than Ariana Grande. Ariana Grande refuted this accusation in a post, saying that she and her co-star were paid equally.

But after denying any bad blood between them, Jennette McCurdy continued to fuel the rumors.
Another tweet from Jennette McCurdy about ending a toxic friendship appeared in June 2014, just before the program was canceled. Many people took this to be a dig at Ariana Grande, and it was quickly misinterpreted.

Similar to how Ariana Grande thanked the cast, crew, and fans in an emotional farewell letter after "Sam and Cat" was canceled, Jennette McCurdy was not mentioned in Ariana Grande's letter.

While Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande have never publicly addressed their differences, Jennette McCurdy eventually dispelled the rumor that they were at odds in 2015 by telling E! News that the two "butted heads" in a very "sisterly way."

Jennette McCurdy said, "I just feel that you know Ariana and I were and are extremely close and very like-minded in a lot of different ways, and then, sorta as the show dissolved, everybody wanted to find some sort of hidden meaning in our relationship,"

Number 1: The true reason behind the fall-out
Whilst working on the "iCarly" spin-off "Sam & Cat" alongside Ariana Grande, Jennette McCurdy described a bad experience and disclosed the event that "broke" her.

As mentioned, Ariana Grande often missed taping for their show because of her busy schedule. Jennette McCurdy didn’t understand why Ariana Grande was permitted to do so because she needed to cancel appointments before due to her commitment with iCarly. It seems like Ariana Grande was given leeway while she can’t even postpone shooting without giving a valid reason.
Jennette McCurdy claimed that she made an effort to justify Ariana Grande's right to attend to her musical commitments by arguing that she wasn't skipping "entire weeks" of work. She had a different viewpoint when Ariana Grande missed a work week and the episode's premise was tweaked to give her character less time on screen. Moreover, Jennette McCurdy claimed that when the idea for her own show was presented to her years before the debut of "Sam & Cat" in 2013, she believed that it would just be centered on her "iCarly" character Sam.

Last August 2022, Jennette McCurdy released a book entitled I'm Glad My Mom Died which talked about many things from her childhood to her Nickelodeon life. In one part of the book, Jennette McCurdy talked about ‘The Creator’ which fans thinks is someone from Nickelodeon.
