Today we tear into a Subaru FA20 2.0L Boxer 4 cylinder from a 2013-2016 Scion FRS or BRZ. This engine is pretty similar to the 2017+ though there are some differences(intake manifold, cam gears, etc). These engines are in very high demand and there are two major reasons. The most commonly talked about are valve spring failure, and there's a nationwide campaign to replace affected engine's springs. The second, and more prevalent failure I've seen, oil starvation. This core engine was bought from a local shop and it was replaced because it was making terrible noises and running poorly. We tear this engine ALL the way down to see how extensive the damage really is.

If you're wondering why I'm doing this, or you're new to the channel; my name is Eric, and I own and run a full service auto salvage operation in the Saint Louis Missouri area. Part of our model includes tearing down bad engines and salvaging the good parts. We do not rebuild engines, we merely supply parts to those that do!

As always I appreciate all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism.

Catch you all on the next one!
