Why you should watch:

For investors who want their values reflected in the baskets of stocks they buy, ESG-themed ETFs provide an increasingly popular way to do it. But while this sounds very much part of the zeitgeist, dig down a little and you will find some tricky questions. These include:

- What, exactly, goes into an ESG ETF?
- Can these funds cover both a divestment approach (sell those ‘sin’ stocks) and engagement with companies to encourage changes in behaviour?
- What will be the next innovations in this field?
- And shouldn’t ESG investing be mainstream anyway?

The three experts debating these issues are Deborah Fuhr (EFTGI), Cosmo Elms (Legal and General Investment Management) and Billy Nauman (Financial Times).
