Luí na Gréine thar an Inis
~
Cromtha thar pórtha
Ag baint fiailí as a beart,
Ag réidh 's ag glanadh a gort.

Glúine fuara fúithi.
Fuar, ach tirim, le brat caol bríste
Idir craiceann agus cré.

Matáin, méara, agus meon
Tuirseach tar éis an lae cruaidh liath,
Nuair a tháinig gaoth geimhriúil inti
Agus í chun tabhairt isteach.

Ach bhraith sí teas ansin
Ar a muineál 's a droim.
Sheas sí ar thaobh an brae
Ag amharc ar loch fá loinnir shéimh.

Bhí faoiseamh ina corp 's a hanam arís
'S bhí luí na gréine thar an Inis.

Sunset over Inch
~
Crouched over seeds
Weeding her patch,
Redding up and tidying her field.

Cold knees beneath her.
Cold, but dry, with only thin trousers
Between skin and soil.

Her muscles, fingers, and mind
Wrecked after the cold grey day,
When a wintery wind blew through her,
She was about to give up.

But she felt a warmth then
Cast over her neck and back.
She stood on the side of the brae
Watching the lough in shimmering light.

There was peace in her body and soul again
And the sun was setting over Inch.
