Here's a long, somewhat boring repair video where I try several things and finally get the player working. I was thinking afterwards and I think I know now what was causing the problem.

Coincidentally (or annoyingly), the other N707 I have now has a problem that I think is related. If so, the solution might be key to repairing many more players.
