This area has been an eye sore ever since I completed the walkway. I decided to do a little makeover and make this area a nice flower bed. I started off by removing all the old dirt and weeds. I did this by taking a flat shovel and just skimming the area to the depth that I wanted. Then I spaced out the shrubs by eyeballing and then started to get them planted. Once I got all 5 boxwood gems planted I then installed the landscape fabric. I usually do this part before I plant but decided to do it the other way this time. I didn't have any landscape pins at my house so I just used the mulch to keep it down. I'm not a big fan of landscape fabric anyway but I some in the shop so decided to use it.
