Founded in 1997 Vuzix is a leading developer of augmented reality and smartglasses applications. The Vuzix Blade is a pair of augmented reality smartglasses. The devices provides a display for your eyes. The devices features 12 hours of batter and an 8mp camera. The device is currently available for $1000 and up.

Vuzix showcased a demo of their $1000 Blade Smart Glasses, featuring an interview with one of the principal engineers at the company. The Blade Smart Glasses are currently available on the market for purchase at $999. Haissam emphasized that the glasses have been in development for about a year and a half, focusing on aspects like the operating system, storage, comfort, and battery life.

The demo highlighted various features of the Blade Smart Glasses, including their ability to last a whole day on a single charge, with notifications, phone calls, and text messages supported. The glasses boast an array of applications, from live closed captioning translations to gaming experiences. They showcased image recognition capabilities by reading a modern QR code and displaying stock market information on the glass.

Vuzix is actively partnering with Yelp to develop an experience where users, while wearing the glasses, can receive information about businesses, such as ratings and busy-ness, by simply looking at storefront icons. The glasses could potentially recognize and display information about any TV channel, provided developers create the necessary applications.

Another demonstration highlighted the potential for grocery shopping, where users can scan items, receive information, and check items off their shopping list through the glasses. The demo also showcased the customization of the glasses for personal use, with the ability to integrate with Alexa and Google Assistant, control phone settings, and access apps through a custom app store.

The Blade Smart Glasses were presented as a versatile device for various activities, such as skiing, recording experiences with GPS information, and even customizing the user interface based on individual preferences. The glasses can also be fitted with prescription inserts, making them suitable for users with existing eyeglasses prescriptions.

The live content room demo featured interaction with Alexa and mentioned ongoing work with Google Assistant. The glasses allow users to control phone settings, install apps from their app store, and customize display size and information. Vuzix expressed optimism about the product's potential success, with many interested customers and the option to order custom inserts for prescription glasses. The company aims to revolutionize the market and make a significant impact with its long-standing experience in the field.
