The Porsche 964 C4 – the all wheel drive version – tends to be the lesser loved 964. If you’re looking to learn why the Porsche 964 C4 is just as good as the 964 C2, then this video is 100% perfect for you.

UPDATE - car is sold.

In this one, a real-world owner tells us why he has treasured his ’90 C4…and why he considers it as desirable as the rear wheel drive 964, the Porsche 911 964 C2.

In spite of absolutely loving and caring for this 1990 Porsche 964 C4, the owner has reluctantly made the decision to pass the car along to the next caretaker...all because he needs more room in his garage for his recently-acquired 1995 Porsche 993 coupe.

Enthusiasts will tell you that the Porsche 964 is likely the most desirable generation of air cooled 911’s. Produced from 1989 – 1994, the 964 brought significant advancements to the Porsche’s iconic 911 platform while retaining (yet improving on) oh-so-familiar lines of the rear engine design.

Some of the most important advancements and features presented by the 964 include:

• Integrated bumpers, a retractable spoiler and a more aerodynamic shape compared to the 911 Carrera 3.2 generation.

• An all wheel drive option known as the Porsche 964 C4 variant. This delivered improved handling and a greater confidence in challenging driving conditions.

• More advanced suspension. With the 964, Porsche did away with the torsion bar suspension design and replaced it with coil springs and shocks.

• A more powerful engine. Unlike the 3.2 motor included in the generation before, the 964 now featured a 3.6 liter flat six with various power levels depending on model.

• An automatic transmission option. The Tiptronic, Porsche’s automatic transmission offering, was first available in the 964. While not a popular transmission for Porsche enthusiasts, it did open up the platform to people not interested in shifting gears.

• Enhanced safety features. The auto-deploying spoiler was first offered on the 964. This spoiler increased downforce to help plant the car at higher speeds. The 964 also introduced ABS as a standard feature.

• Convertible and targa options.
