Since 2021, Flasbarth has served as state secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Held on 16 November 2016 alongside the COP22 climate summit, GLF Marrakesh 2016 connected 5,500 people from 95 countries online and in person in Marrakesh, Morocco, to forge solutions to the planet’s greatest climate and development challenges through sustainable land use.
