If you’re new to the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch 3.5, I mean SE is the one to get as of right now if you want in.

If you’re upgrading from a Series 1-3, the Apple Watch 6 would be best for you. SE if you’re pinching pennies.

Upgrading from the 4, go with the Series 6. Not the SE.

If you’re upgrading form the 5, don’t and go watch my best accessories video for the Apple Watch instead.

The only reason to get the Series 3 is if you’re on a budget. And by budget I mean there is absolutely no way for you to save an extra $80 dollars over the next while to get the SE.

Honestly, the Series 3 is going to be a waste of money for most people.

Now within those recommendations, you’ll still need to figure out between Cellular or GPS which I’ll cover later on.

Why do I say that the Series 3 would be a waste of money? Because it’s only got a couple years of relevancy left. The biggest thing for me is that it has an S3 chip which makes it tech that’s at least 3 years old.

With WatchOS 7, Apple just deprecated Series 1 and 2 which means Series 3 is the next on the chopping block. At most, you’re probably only getting 2 years of OS upgrades before Apple says bye bye Series 3.

And even for the budget conscious, if you look at the long term, assuming that you buy the cheapest watch everytime it doesn’t work with the latest OS, it’s going to cost you around 1000 bucks whereas the others will only cost between 800 for the 6 and 850 for the SE over 9 years.

So let’s talk about the device that’s actually a deal in 2020. The SE

The thing that stands out the most for me is the chip in the SE. It has a S5 chip which puts it on parity with the Series 5 in terms of computing power which means you’re probably going to get 4 years of usage before the Apple stops making updates for the device. At ⅔’s the cost of the Series 6 which would get 5 years of life, that’s not too bad.

BUT the SE is hamstrung a bit. There is a reason why I say it’s the Apple Watch 3.5 because you basically get the functionality of the Apple Watch Series 3, in the form factor of a Series 4 with the chips of the Series 5.

So if you’re upgrading from a Series 1-3, the SE is going to be an upgrade, just not a big one. On a day to day basis, the first thing you’ll notice will be the larger screen. Other than that, it’s going to function pretty much like your older Apple Watch.

Going from a 3 to the SE, you’ll end up with a digital crown that tickles you back, the same old HR sensor, a better BT chip and more storage capacity.

Getting the Apple Watch SE, right now, in 2020 is going to be smart. Assuming that the Apple Watch SE is going to follow the same upgrade route of other SE products which is around 4 years so having a fairly new chip is going to ensure that you get the biggest bang for your buck if you’re on a budget. Which is why I say that if you’re new to the Apple Watch, the SE is going to be worth considering if you want to save a few bucks.

Onto Apple’s newest Apple Watch flagship. The Series 6.

It’s always easy to say upgrade to Apple’s latest, bestest and greatest model. I’ve already done a more involved video so check that out if you want more details about it but here’s the rundown:

Upgrading from the Series 1-3, the biggest thing you’ll notice is the larger always on screen. It will make a world of difference for you. Honestly, that upgrade is going to get you excited about the watch.

If you’re upgrading from the Series 4, like the older Series, you’ll notice the Always on screen. And that will make a difference for everybody on a day to day basis. Some of the other fringe benefits of the 6 over the 4 include:

-Newer chips such as the S6 and U1 chips.
-Blood Oxygen sensor

Ok. If you’re thinking about upgrading from the Series 5, um...
