In June 2023, Canada faced one of its worst-ever fire seasons, with 1866 forest fires and 10.3 million acres burned. Indoor air quality became a crucial concern, especially with the Air Quality Health Index reaching a record high of 11 in Ottawa. To combat pollutants, carbon and HEPA filters were recommended, with considerations for the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) rating. Building airtight homes and using fresh air systems like ERVs were advocated. For existing houses, portable air purifiers and regular cleaning were suggested to improve indoor air quality. In this video, we will be discussing the importance of maintaining healthy indoor air quality. This is an issue we have long been advocating for, but it is now more pressing than ever.
