The Skoda Karoq is a practical and spacious compact SUV that puts function over flair. While it may not have the most exciting design or sharpest handling, it excels at providing a comfortable and user-friendly driving experience for families.

There is plenty of room for four or five adults to stretch out, and the Varioflex sliding rear seats allow you to optimize cargo space or passenger legroom as needed. Performance varies across the engine range, from perky to sluggish, but none will thrill driving enthusiasts. The base 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol makes a strong value argument, while the 2.0-liter diesels offer effortless cruising on the motorway.

Trim levels consist of the no-frills SE Drive, well-equipped SE L, and sporty-looking Sportline. Standard safety equipment is excellent, with autonomous emergency braking and lane keep assist on all models. Overall build quality and reliability expectations are high based on Skoda's reputation.

For families seeking practicality and comfort over style, the Karoq checks the right boxes. It can't match the Tucson and Sportage for interior flair or hybrid powertrains, but provides more interior space than the Qashqai while exuding Skoda's familiar vibe of sensible value. The Karoq succeeds by keeping life simple, cementing its place among the most useful compact SUV options.
