In this video, I talk about autocue and teleprompters, and whether you should be using them for your videos. The fact is, we all need to be using video in our businesses. Whatever marketing strategy you have right now, the chances are, video is going to be playing a large role if you want to increase your traffic, conversions and sales.
But the problem is, so many people get so worried about presenting to camera, or find it takes an absolute age to get things done because they cannot remember their script.
Well, the truth is, for most of your videos it's better to not use a script as you want to come across as natural as possible. But sometimes, it's required that you really focus on the words you choose to communicate.
Think about it, you might need to address your followers with a very important message where you need to be very careful about what you say. Autocue is your answer.
You might be creating a sales video and want to get the wording right. Autocue is your answer.
Or it might be that you're finding you're wasting too much time and instead, you want to get the damn video shot already. Autocue is your answer.
Now, if you do go down the autocue/teleprompter route, then there is a learning curve, but not a huge one. You need to make sure you don't just read the autocue as your communication will be worse than ever before. Instead, still make sure you are natural. Rather like a great wedding speech - you're prepared like you've never prepared before AND at the same time you have brought in the side of you that knows that it's not "public reading", but "public speaking", so you'll need to have some level of engagement. Now, it's not easy with video as most of the time it's just you and the camera (it's lonely ain't it?!), but you need to get comfortable with the idea that you're speaking to one other person and so make sure you "feel" the conversation with them and not just "present" to them.
So, watch the video, enjoy it and then ask us any questions you might have.
Speak soon,
Tom
