Larry was a big fan of Gracie Fields, (her this Is Your Life) has been uploaded from 1960 to You tube. Larry and was in Rochdale during her final visit in 1978. Dorothy Squires he loved too and he and Tom Bunn went to see her in around 1994. They just went through the back door and sat at her table, they had phoned her prior to this, as she was mostly a recluse by that stage in her life. Larry had wanted Dot Squires on The Generation Game as a guest but sadly this did not happen.
Dorothy told Larry many times," Why are you not a top star" years before he made it, and he never forgot her. Tom Bunn was a mutual friend of both Dot and Larry.

This Easter ITV 3 are showing a documentary about Larry, my friend Thomas Bunn is a on screen contributor Larry was a close friend of Tom, and is mentioned quite a few times in his book "Sorry darling It's way Past Time". Many showbiz people from the era are peppered throughout the book. Noele Gordon is also a guest on TIYL as both Larry and Nolly were close friends.
