The 620R is so much more than just a 570S with a wing and bits of carbon fibre. It's a fully road legal version of the 570S GT4 racer - and it's here to give the new 911 GT3 a run for its money.

Sure, the 911 GT3 is cheaper on paper but, with the way the market's going at the moment, both will set you back north of £200,000. With the McLaren, you get the same suspension and aerodynamics of the 570S GT4 racing car, albeit with a power increase to 620hp from a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8. What's more, you can order a bespoke set of racing slicks for your 620R for those days spent lapping Cadwell Park smoking hot hatches and MX-5s. We've been putting it through its paces at COTA as part of McLaren's Pure event to see what it's all about.
