Michaela Coel created art from trauma in her hit series 'I May Destroy You', which captivated audiences across the globe when it was released back in June. In a month when Black Lives Matter demonstrations took place across the globe, the talented polymath fictionalised her own experience of sexual assault for the arresting series.

Her debut sitcom, Chewing Gum, ran from 2015 to 2017 and was based on her 2012 graduate play, Chewing Gum Dreams, and won her a BAFTA for Best Comedy Actress.

In the latest instalment of our new 'Master the Art' series, Coel shares an insight into her creative writing process.

"I can only tell you things that I have done that have helped me tell stories. I have Googled, 'how to write TV show'. I highly recommend doing that. There is a lot of information there."
