The Political Economy of AI: Who controls the means of prediction?

Professor Max Kasy presents the 3rd talk in the What Economists Really Do 2022 series. In this lecture, Max works on topics at the intersection of machine learning and AI, economics, and statistics, as well as on economic inequality, job guarantee programs, and basic income. In this talk he will discuss the social impact of AI, what economics can teach us about it, and why we need democratic control of the means of prediction.
