There are many great areas and lighthouses to visit along Nova Scotia's beautiful South Shore and I highly recommend getting off the main highways and driving the scenic Lighthouse Route.
There was a foghorn building built on this point in 1924 and the current Western Head Lighthouse was built in 1962.
The white octagonal concrete tower is topped with a red lantern, and has a flashing white light.
The lighthouse is situated along the western approach to Liverpool Bay along the scenic Lighthouse Route on the south shore of Nova Scotia.
It is fully operational and automated since 1988. All operating lights in Nova Scotia are automated.
The lighthouse stands at 50 ft tall and 64 ft (19.5m) above water.
