They have a staggering amount of power - influencing everything from our shopping baskets to our world view. In the past two decades, a small number of huge companies have come to shape our daily lives in profound ways. For a long time, their power grew almost unchallenged. But those days appear to be over. In both the US and the EU, authorities are cracking down on big tech companies like Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft and Meta – accusing them of anti-competitive practices.
