Wingcopter has been awarded by the Government of Vanuatu, supported by UNICEF, to trial the delivery of essential vaccines for children in remote villages in Pentecost. The project demonstrates that drones can be used to deliver vaccines and other medical supplies to difficult-to-reach destinations on Pacific islands.

In order to make on-site delivery even faster and safer, we have developed a special winch lowering mechanism that releases the delivery box directly at the destination where the vaccines are urgently needed. While the Wingcopter floats 10 meters above the ground, the box is lowered until it securely reaches the ground.
This enables a scalable solution for the delivery of vaccines and other life-saving medical supplies from a central facility to multiple destinations without the need for landing and take-off infrastructure on the receiving side.

With the success of this project, the number of unvaccinated children can be significantly reduced and brings us closer to our vision of saving & improving lives by building a fast and safe drone delivery infrastructure worldwide.
